CHICAGO - March 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Since McGee’s Tavern opened its doors in 1989 to become a Lincoln Park staple, they have celebrated spring with an authentic, New Orleans-style crawfish boil, appropriately named, the Headsucker's Ball. On May 17th, 2014, the tavern can boast Chicago's largest and longest-running single-day crawfish boil provided by the nation’s largest crawfish purveyor, family-owned and operated, Louisiana Crawfish Co.

“We just like to have a great time and we throw parties very well here. We’ve been doing it for years, we don’t miss any bases, people know us for our parties, and they have grown with us over time. We are so excited to be able to celebrate twenty-five years of service to our awesome community and want to especially thank those who have made this particular landmark possible. We will be doing big things this year, I can assure you that!" said Owner, Tom Piazza, smiling and laughing.

The McGee's staff is excited to celebrate 25 years of service with their regulars and new neighbors with over 2,250 pounds of fresh crawfish. The team of cooks will work for two days to prep, season and boil it all up so the servers and bartenders can sling giant portions of crawfish on the plates of the nearly 1,200 people who will come out to celebrate.

The crawfish will be in good company when served up alongside 80 gallons of homemade gumbo, 90 gallons of creole jambalaya and 90 gallons of red beans and rice, all prepared by the McGee’s kitchen staff, from recipes that have been perfected over the past twenty-five years. For added entertainment, guests can watch the staff prepare this feast on the Thursday and Friday, prior to the event.

Hurricane Gumbo will be filling the air with their funky and soulful zydeco music starting at 2 pm where guests will feel like they are in the heart of NoLa. All the tables will be removed from the stage area to create a dance floor for guests to let loose.

The Headsucker’s Ball is a rain or shine event. Tickets cost $20 online and $25 at the door. Tickets sell out every year. The event lasts from 10 am – 10 pm. Tickets includes all-you-can-eat food, generally lasting until early evening.
