AI is a system in which work groups and teams can deeply connect at laser speeds to create effective and efficient communication, support and WOW customer services. In the grocery store a week or so ago, I was in line behind a gentleman who appeared to be in a bit of a rush. I saw him smile at both of the ladies helping him check out and bag his goods. They exchanged thank yous and he left the checkout counter.
I moved up to check out and the young lady at the register was agitated. She looked at her team member, then at me and asked had we seen how the customer she just helped was so rude and practically threw money at her... I listened politely, aware of having my facial expression match the seriousness of her tone without frowning. I told her that sometimes, people in a hurry could have a sick family member or something, one never knows. Then I asked her to go back to the part of her story where the previous customer was throwing money, her perception, and why didn't someone tell me so I could catch some.
Her lips loosened and broke into a huge smile and the entire line of customers began to laugh and talk about that they too missed the money throwing party. The young lady admitted that she'd endured a tough couple of days. I nodded in empathetic understanding. I smiled, touched her hand briefly and said, 'I get it.' As AI's creator I use it almost without conscious thought whereas I used to react on the contagious emotions surrounding me.
