March 25, 2014 - PRLog -- VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – After years of writing for artists on major labels, such as Island Def Jam and Bad Boy, Alisha ‘M’Jestie’ Brooks shocked friends, family and music industry peers when she announced she would leave the traditional music industry to launch an independent music company for young artists.

With the success of penning Rihanna’s Billboard-charting record, Pon De Replay in tow, M'Jestie launched Dream Little Dreamer in 2008 expanding to Dream City University in 2013.  The program represents the first of its kind and everyone is accepted, changing the lives of their students ranging from beginners to pop stars. Dream City University is the cornerstone for young artists to pursue a career in the music industry.

“The music belongs to the musicians. Some record labels have made a way to use the artists. All my kids are capable of delivering a hit record with the right guidance and direction. Most of the labels ask questions about the artist’s image before they even ask for the music,” said M’Jestie, CEO.

Dream City University does not follow the industry standards. Instead they offer artist development and students are required to attend classes as a part of the curriculum. “Our songwriters, producers and performers represent the future of the music business. They join our company with a dream to inspire the world. We provide the education and work alongside artists to help guide them to success. Our goal is to make it so that it’s a win for everybody involved.”

Currently, Dream City University is on tour with for their mixtape, Back On Campus Vol. 1 and their upcoming album, #DCU4Ever. The team will be in Washington, DC Mar. 29-30 to perform at the SheROCKS showcase.
