Collins Einhorn Farrell Adds Attorney Kari L. Melkonian

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - March 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Southfield-based Collins Einhorn Farrell (www.ceflawyers.com) announced attorney Kari L. Melkonian has joined the firm’s general liability practice group.  Recently admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, Melkonian will focus her practice on the defense of general liability claims.

In 2008, Melkonian earned her juris doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she was a junior member of the Law Review in 2005-2006 and a senior member and mentor in 2006-2007.  She also holds a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Oakland University.

The Oxford resident comes to Collins Einhorn from the Oakland County Circuit Court, where she served as judicial staff attorney to the Honorable Martha D. Anderson.  In this position, she was involved in researching and writing opinions on various civil, criminal and domestic relations matters.  In 2010, Melkonian received the Oakland County Circuit Court MVP Award, given to employees nominated by their colleagues as recognition for exceptional work performance.  She also earned the 10-Year Service Award from Oakland County for her public service.

Melkonian is actively involved with the Oakland County Bar Association.  She is currently an associate member of the Inns of Court, a member of its Board of Directors Nominating Committee and the Criminal and Family Law Committees. Melkonian is the immediate past-chair of the Criminal Law Committee. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Oakland County Bar Foundation.

Additionally, Melkonian held court clerk positions with the Oakland County Probate Court-Family Division under the Honorable Linda S. Hallmark and Oakland County Probate Court under the Honorable Barry M. Grant (retired).

In addition to her law practice, Melkonian serves in an adjunct faculty member role as a family law and research and writing professor at Baker College in Auburn Hills, Mich.
