The recently-launched, Australian-based, Metamako develops ultra-low latency solutions, primarily for the global financial markets. Launched at the Securities Technology Analysis Centre (STAC (http://www.stacresearch.com/)) Summit in London in December 2013, Metamako created quite a stir with the launch of MetaConnect, their 4 nanosecond switch, which is 100 times faster than traditional switches. With features not found on more conventional switches, the company has effectively rewritten the definition of ultra-low latency.
