Best Selling Author Hosts Benefit Event at Emory University

ATLANTA - March 24, 2014 - PRLog -- On April 10, 2014 author Kenni York along with Emory University's Respect Program and Day League (formerly known as DeKalb Rape Crisis Center) will conduct the second annual Let Your Voice Be Heard benefit event. This talent showcase will feature several unique performers from the Atlanta area including a comedian, spoken word artists, and singers. This year's event will be hosted by activist, ambassador, and recording artist Yewande Austin as well as the multi-talented Atlanta disc jockey, DJ Sed.

"The objective of this event is to create a heightened awareness about the epidemic," states York when asked why she created Let Your Voice Be Heard. "With this unique format we hope to provide both entertainment and education on sexual assault to the community."

Proceeds from this popular event will benefit Day League. Day League is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that provides victims with services such as a 24 hour crisis hotline, hospital accompaniment, support groups for youth and adults, individual counseling, as well as prevention education. Majority of the organization's funding comes from charitable donations from individuals, foundations, and partners. Let Your Voice Be Heard is yet another exciting way to raise funds for the operational needs of the center.

This year's event will be held in the Cox Ballroom on Emory University's Campus from 7 PM EST until 9:00 PM EST.
