Gryphon Fabricators – Aquatic & Arena

March 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Gryphon Fabricators is pleased to present ‘Aquatic’, a thematically linked collection of sculptures, at ArtExpo 2014 New York. This display will be exhibited at booth 419 from April 4^th to April 6^th at Pier 94, 711 12th Ave, New York, NY 10019.

Marie-Hélène brings her keen sense of composition, movement and color as well as her unconventional taste to bear on mythological themes branded by the Gryphon.

While there is evidence of representations of Gryphons as far back as 3,300 BC. It is suggested that fossil skeletons of beaked dinosaurs, found by ancient Scythian nomads who mined gold in Central Asia, may have been at the root of the image of this mythical creature known as the Gryphon. Gryphons are described as lion-sized quadrupeds with large claws and a raptor-bird-like beak. The lion was traditionally considered the king of beasts and the eagle the king of birds, the gryphon was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Greek writers depict the gryphon around 675 B.C., at the same time Greeks first made contact with Scythian nomads. Gryphons were reported as guarding the gold deposits in the arid of the wilderness. The region of Central Asia where many Protoceratops fossils are found is rich in gold runoff from the neighboring mountains.. Many cultures assume the Gryphon is a guardian. In antiquity it was a symbol of divine power and a guardian of the divine.­

Known worldwide for her sculpture, multimedia polychrome reliefs and light fixtures, Marie-Hélène established Gryphon Fabricators in 2012 to substantiate the fantastic and surreal stories she fabricates by creating strange creatures inspired by dreamlike concepts, featuring the element of surprise.
