Free Personal Finance Workshops Offered in Park City

Local experts will provide tips on building great credit and budgeting for your financial goals

SALT LAKE CITY - March 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Salt Lake City/Park City, UT – Local nonprofit agencies Fair Credit Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties, Utah have teamed up to bring new financial opportunities to Summit County residents.

The 2014 CFED Assets and Opportunity Scorecard, which ranks each state according to the financial health of its residents, found that 51% of Utah residents have sub-prime, or lower credit ratings, and that the average credit card debt is almost $9,000. This is in addition to an increasing number of college graduates who owe significant student loans upon graduation, or who are in default on their student loans.

In response to these financial health factors, the agencies are providing two free personal finance workshops aimed at helping individuals improve their financial management skills and become strong, savvy consumers.

The first workshop, Kick Your Credit into Shape, will be held on March 25th and the second workshop, Budgeting for Success, is scheduled on March 27th. Both workshops are from 6:30-7:30 PM and are being hosted by Habitat for Humanity in their Park City offices located at 6280 Silver Creek Drive, just East of I-40.

Certified Personal Finance counselors from Fair Credit Foundation will teach participants how to build and maintain great credit, how to establish a budget that works toward your financial goals, and how to maintain good credit and budget strategies on an ongoing, long-term basis. Participants will have access to the latest tools and techniques available for use in their personal financial management strategies.

The workshops are free to attend, but registration is recommended due to limited seating availability. Registration is available online at http://www.faircredit.org/event_calendar.asp or by calling Jennifer Rohn at 801-656-1608.
