Congratulations to Dr. David Copeland, Superintendent of the Madison County School System, for being invited to attend the School Research Nexus Symposium. Dr. Copeland’s unique experience and level of career accomplishment has prompted this invitation to network with an inclusive and selective group of top creative and innovative thought leaders in education. This elite group has a thirty-five year history of meeting to consider the latest thinking and findings in research-based efforts, problem-solving sessions, and creative solutions. The focus is on student success and leadership development;
therefore, they seek individuals of high potential who are willing to answer the call for Leadership Excellence™. The conference will be held April 2-4, 2014 in Laguna Beach, California with all expenses paid.
Dr. David Copeland, was also chosen by AASA, the School Superintendents Association, to attend a Superintendent Leadership Institute for School Discipline Reform in the Fall of 2013 at the Alex Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee. Dr. Copeland was among thirty-five superintendents selected from across the country for this important retreat to galvanize support for school discipline policy reform. Superintendents heard from successful peers, researchers, judges, advocates and school health professionals. The institute was also hosted by the Children's Defense Fund.
