Teach for Change! FREE Anti-Bias Institute Shows How to Model Inclusive Behavior in the Classroom

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - March 21, 2014 - PRLog -- On April 11, the American Conference on Diversity will educate and empower educators to create multicultural learning environments where all students are embraced. With funding from the PNC Foundation, we will conduct a free one-day Anti-Bias Institute for early childhood educators, childcare providers, and students majoring in early childhood education who are nearing completion of their coursework. Open to educators and institutions in Central New Jersey, this event will be held at the Hyatt Regency, 2 Albany Street in New Brunswick, NJ, in the Conference BC room, from 9 a.m. to 3:30. Seating is limited, so register today!

Through instruction, facilitated dialogue, small group discussion, and opportunities for self-assessment, the Anti-Bias Institute enhances the ability of participants to work toward change around issues of multicultural education and to:

►Gain greater awareness of their own biases and how they can unintentionally be transferred to young children in your care

►Increase their knowledge of multicultural education

►Develop concrete skills to bring back to their workplace

“Today’s early childhood educators are change agents for tomorrow. It’s vital that they model inclusive behaviors to create classrooms where students develop a healthy relationship with diversity. This will help lay the foundation for a future of embracing diversity in our workplaces, schools, and communities!” says the American Conference on Diversity President and CEO Elizabeth Williams-Riley.

Anti-Bias Institute instructors will include the American Conference on DiversityDirector of Education & Evaluation Pam Harris andDirector of Youth/Collegiate Services Bari Katz.
