Award Winning Professor Launches Online Magazine

OKLAHOMA CITY - March 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Award winning author, professor and activist Mathew Lynch launches The Edvocate, an online magazine. The primary aim of the magazine is to spread the word about serious problems in the country’s educational system and to argue for a radical reorganization of the American public school system.

Mathew Lynch, who spent seven years as a K-12 teacher, knows the challenges that face educational reform in the country. According to the online magazine's mission, “We have debated for some time now about what we should be teaching our children and how exactly we should be teaching them….But what so many of us are overlooking at this time, is the growing importance of knowledge…. The Edvocate was created to argue for shifts in education policy….and the opportunities for learning afforded to American students.”

The activist argues that understanding the issues that are involved in this regard are crucial to the future of the country's education K-12 system. According to the online magazine, it is not what is imparted to students in the K-12 system but what is not. The basic principle governing the web based magazine is to focus on discussing the issues of an educational system that focuses more on materialism than a lifetime of learning. The articles and opinion pieces that are published in The Edvocate aim to focus attention on this lapse and slow implementation of resources that might promote critical thinking and comprehension for students at the K-12 level.

The website's mission also states that K-12 institutions are quite “sluggish” in implementing new practices, policies and technologies as compared to colleges and universities.
