API Security and REST API Metadata Usage Presented by SmartBear at API Strategy & Practice

During the Security & Testing Session, Lorinda is presenting, “Putting the Hack Back into Hackathon.” As we get better at building connected apps and expanding the Internet of Things (IoT), there are various considerations in testing this new technology. Testing and security reviews become more important and complex in this new world. Lorinda reviews some recent breaches and offers ideas on how to get ahead of these abuses in the future.

During the Service Descriptions Session, Ole is presenting, “A Splash in the Pool with REST Metadata.” Whether one likes it or not, the usage of REST API metadata is being more widely adopted in the REST community. Ole provides guidance in these murky waters, giving equal attention and voice to the agonists and antagonists in this heated debate. He looks at three of the more popular metadata initiatives, comparing how they attempt to describe REST APIs and what they offer in the area of tooling and community.
