Mr. Orsinger was chosen as the 2014 recipient because of his “demonstrated dedication to the Bar and service to the public with the same commitment, dedication and zeal which defined Dan Price’s life and work. He exemplifies the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the profession as a volunteer and an advocate on its behalf,” according to the Texas Bar Foundation.
“To receive this award is a very special experience for me,” says Mr. Orsinger, who served on the 1996 inaugural selection committee for the award named for Mr. Price, a revered Austin lawyer who died in 1994. “Dan and I were good friends, and he was someone whose commitment to clients and devotion to the advancement of the legal profession was virtually unmatched.”
Mr. Orsinger will receive the Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award at the Texas Bar Foundation awards dinner held during the Bar’s annual meeting on June 27 at the Hilton Austin. As part of the recognition, the Bar Foundation will make a donation in Mr. Orsinger’s name to a law school he designated, Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law Internal Scholarship Program.
