The Definitive Guide to ISO 45001:2016 published by FMS

MANCHESTER, U.K. - March 19, 2014 - PRLog -- ISO, the International Organisation for Standardisation, have announced that they are working on a new standard from the management of health and safety - ISO 45001:2016. To alleviate any concerns over the content of this important standard, the Federation of Management Systems (FMS) has published The Definitive Guide to ISO 45001:2016.

ISO 45001 is to be based upon the OHSAS 18001 standard. The current version - OHSAS 18001:2007 is used as the basis for occupational health and safety management systems in thousands of companies around the world. The proposed standard is significantly different from OHSAS 18001; the structure, format and terminology of the new standard will be substantially altered.

The Definitive Guide to ISO 45001:2016 is based on the current available information with updates from ISO committee members.

The guide covers:

the reasons for some of the changes, such as Annex SL;
an overview of the changes;
the current status of the drafting process;
details of the proposed changes, with guidance;
the proposed ISO timetable;
the transitional arrangements; and
an action plan outlining what organisations need to do.

ISO 45001:2016 will specify the requirements for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. This new standard will force the transformation of every OHSAS 18001 management system in the world.
