Stellar Slate of Industry Speakers at the Inaugural Internet of Things Asia 2014

CHANGI, Singapore - March 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Singapore, 24 February 2014 – The first-ever Internet of Things (IoT) Asia 2014 to be held at Singapore EXPO Convention & Exhibition Centre from 21-22 April will feature a dynamic slate ofinternational and local speakers from leading companies in the IoT field.  Jointly organised by Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) and Singex Exhibitions, the event has a confirmed line-up of over 40 industry experts and practitioners in the IoT & machine-to-machine (M2M) field as speakers.

Comprising a trade exhibition and conference, IoT Asia 2014 is the first event in the Asia Pacific region to bring IoT technologies, developers and providers to end-businesses, government agencies and the public, introducing a world of IoT-driven productivity and efficiency. The conference will feature dual-tracked programmes catering to IoT solution providers and also end-businesses in the retail, healthcare, smart city, transport, logistics, manufacturing and building industries.

Co-located with IoT Asia 2014 is the Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing (ISSNIP) Conference.

“The inaugural IoT Asia conference has been put together to feature experts in the field, inspiring case studies and learning opportunities as well as insights for stakeholders and consumers across the entire value chain, in view of the immense opportunities arising from IoT adoption in Asia”, says Dr. Tan Hwee Pink, Programme Manager (Sense and Sense-abilities) of the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and Chairman of the IoT Asia Conference Steering Committee.

Heading up the slate of international speakers is Iñigo De La Serna, the Mayor of Santander, Spain who will speak on SmartSantander, a leading smart city project that extensively uses IoT technologies to deliver municipal services and city governance initiatives. He will focus on Santander's experience in deploying city-wide IoT solutions, developing the project scope and phases, engaging with diverse stakeholders and citizens, and the rewards and on-going challenges in managing these projects.

Another notable speaker is Rogier Van Der Heide, VP & Chief Design Officer of Philips Lighting, from The Netherlands, who will be speaking on Philips Lighting's approach and experience of transitioning into the IoT space through their Hue lamp product.

From Singapore, Executive Deputy Chairman of IDA Steve Leonard will share his thoughts on how Singapore is actualizing aspirations to become a truly Smart Nation, underpinned by data and analytics driven in part by the growth of the Internet of Things.  He will share some of the key initiatives Singapore is forging ahead with to build better IT communities and generate better sense-making aimed at benefitting everyone.

Also from Singapore is James Loo, CIO of SingTel Group Enterprise, who will discuss the processes, due diligence and assessment of resources to be considered before jumping on the IoT bandwagon.

Other speakers in the exciting line-up include Richard Lisa (Intel, USA), Thomas Jakob (Bosch SI, Singapore), Jim Morrish (Machina Research, UK), Alessandro Adriani (Bridge Alliance, Singapore), Hardik Bhatt (Cisco, USA), Dr Eva Yueh (IDEAS Institute, Taiwan), and Prasit Prapinmongkolkarn (National Research Council, Thailand).
