PRLog - Mar. 19, 2014 - SYDNEY, Australia -- In a Grand Slam first Tennis Australia created the Social Shack at the Australian Open 2014. Designed as an interactive destination the Social Shack is where the on-line and off-line worlds combine giving fans the chance to engage with the tournament more deeply than ever.

Using innovative Social Media Booth technology from BL!NK Republic (www.blinkrepublic.com.au/?page_id=94) Tennis Australia and Kia created an interactive experience for fans to instantly enter the ‘Kia Greatest Fan’ competition. The technology enabled fans to get an Australian Open photo showing their support for their favourite player, instantly share their photos on Social Media and enter the competition to win a new Kia car.

The hugely popular activation saw over 10,000 visitors to the Australian Open participate in the Social Media Booth generating thousands of entries into the Kia Greatest Fan competition. The instant sharing created a huge social buzz amongst fans, friends and family increasing awareness and engagement at the tournament and around the world.

The Social Shack is just one of many innovations by Tennis Australia and sponsors such as Kia to engage and interact with fans at the tournament and around the world.  Samir Mahir, CIO at Tennis Australia, said: “We need to stress innovation and we try to innovate every year. We try to focus on fan engagement and deepening engagement with consumers overall.”
