Cosmetology Students at Cerritos College Offer Free Services on Mother’s Day for Senior Citizens

Cerritos College Cosmetology students will offer free services on Mother’s day, Friday, May 9, 2014 to the mothers at the senior center in the City of Cerritos.

NORWALK, Calif. - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The students are enrolled in the Cerritos College Cosmetology program. The Cosmetology Program’s mission is to prepare students for a career. Students in the Cosmetology program learn applications and techniques in hairstyling, skin care, make-up, and nail care.

The Cosmetology and Esthetician students will provide manicures, make-up, and hairstyling services to the senior mothers at the City of Cerritos.

“We are so excited for your willingness to help pamper the senior mother's in our community!” said Joyel Dandie, Senior Services Recreation Coordinator for the City of Cerritos.

25 students will perform manicures, and 28 students will provide the hairstyle and make-up services. Two instructors will accompany the students; Mrs. Felicia Smith and Ms. Deborah Barnes.

“This provides a great opportunity to show our appreciation for all women and mothers by treating them to a day of beauty,” said Cosmetology Department Chair, Pat Novinski. “And it is also a great opportunity for our students to give back to the community and get hands-on experience working with clients.”

The Cerritos College Salon offers services in Cosmetology and Esthetics. Haircuts, hair coloring, waxing, and facial services are available to the public. Products are also sold in the salon.

To schedule an appointment at the salon, call (562) 467-5047 or visit the salon at Cerritos College, Health Science Building, Floor 2, Room 202.
