SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The Affordable Housing Network of Santa Clara County is meeting at the Housing Authority 9 am next Tuesday, March 25. The Board of Commissioners will be assessing the horrific housing sequester program that was implemented last year and the public is invited to speak out regarding the necessary changes that must occur.

The meeting is an opportunity to let The Board Of Commissioners know the sequester has been a disaster for tenants and their families. The group requests the public to turn out and testify about the hardships and human rights abuses caused by the unconscionable cuts handed down by the federal government.

Sandy Perry and the Affordable Housing Network of Santa Clara County can be reached at 408-691-6153.  The group has witnessed first hand the outrageous rent increases, reasonable accommodations denied, 90-day notices, landlords opting out of the program, and the worst rental market for Section 8 tenants ever experienced.

The group recognizes that the local Board of Commissioners is not responsible for the cuts that were handed down to it by Congress. But they can and must be held accountable for adjusting those cuts to be more merciful, and take into account the terrible hardships people are going through.

Affordable Housing Network of Santa Clara County will rally outside in front of the Housing Authority at 9 am and then go into the Commissioners meeting at 9:30 and all people in the surrounding communities effected by the sequesters are encouraged to attend.
