‘Energy & Sustainability’ Summit set for April 16

Oakland, CA – The spring economic development event tradition of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce lives on.

On Wednesday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Chamber will present an educational half-day conference – the seventh annual economic development summit entitled “illuminating ideas: 2014 ENERGY and Sustainability Summit (http://www.oaklandchamber.com/pages/EconomicDevelopmentSummit/)” at the Oakland Convention Center in downtown Oakland. The event will continue the Chamber’s strong tradition of work in the Northern California MegaRegion and identify priority economic development goals moving forward with a future that underscores the message that Oakland’s port, city and geographic position in the state make it open for business, ready to capitalize on positive trends in the energy and sustainability sector.

The summit will feature a keynote address by the immediate past Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Jon Wellinghoff, followed by two consecutive panel discussion sessions on “Green Infrastructure and Smart, Resilient Cities” and then “Innovative Energy Technology and the Public Private Partnership.”

The summit will also feature an exclusive “Insider Real Estate Update and Forecast Session” from Garrick Brown, the director of research at Cassidy Turley, with unique focus on “green and clean” technology leasing trends.

Wellinghoff is an internationally recognized law attorney and clean tech energy expert. He is currently a partner at the law firm of Stoel Rives LLP in San Francisco, and is co-chair of the firm’s energy team. He has nearly 38 years of leadership experience in federal and state energy policy, regulation and project development, and has a particular expertise in the integration of renewal resources into the nation’s electricity supply.
