PHOENIX - March 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Independent national touring and recording artist Scott Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down and Big Country, is now available to help motorcycle dealerships and clubs around the country raise money for their favorite charities. Helmer will spend an entire year traveling more than 25,000 miles across America, performing 200+ concerts in venues ranging from elegant, vaudeville-era historic theatres (http://www.scotthelmer.com/blogs/news/12199649-scott-helmer-announces-first-historic-theater-concert-dates-during-1m-fundraising-tour) to saloons to RV parks and campgrounds (http://rvdailyreport.com/campground/entertainer-scott-helmer-adds-rv-parks-to-tour/) to arenas to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help charities and nonprofits raise $1 million for their good causes. The Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015 kicks off May 15, 2014 and runs nonstop until the final show on April 25, 2015 at the historic Calumet Theatre (MI). Helmer will have his own trusted motorcycle throughout the tour, and invites all clubs and dealerships to host a rally or concert along the way to raise funds for their own favorite good causes.  Any charitable group can participate, and it won’t cost them a dime because Helmer is performing for free.

First announced (http://www.scotthelmer.com/blogs/news/10154289-scott-helm...) in November 2013, Helmer’s tour consists of the entertainer’s offer to all charities and nonprofits across America: Upbeat and energetic, solo-acoustic performances of his family-friendly brand of rock-n-roll and country music at their fundraising event free of charge. To date, more than 100 charities have taken advantage of Helmer’s offer and signed up.  Helmer will not handle any money or donations on behalf of organizations during his performances on the Support YOUR Cause Tour. “I am simply offering to perform at any fundraising event free of charge, to help them raise money and awareness for their cause,” he explained.  His only requirement is that the charity has a goal to raise at least $5,000 during their event.

Motorcycle dealerships or clubs who want to raise funds for their favorite charities can contact Helmer to either schedule a pre-show rally for an already-scheduled tour stop, or host a whole new event. A full list of bookings to date can be found at Helmer’s website on the Tour page (http://www.scotthelmer.com/pages/tour). For example, when he gets to Madison, Alabama, on Halloween (October 31, 2014), he’ll be raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (http://mda.org/) (MDA) during Rocket Harley-Davidson’s (http://www.rocketharley.com/) popular Bike Night. He will then perform a two hour solo-acoustic concert, all to help raise money for the MDA. Will he ride in costume? “I hadn’t thought of that,” Helmer noted, looking a little nervous at the thought. But then he breaks into his signature grin and says, “Hey, if the other riders are into it, then I’m game! After all, it’s for a great cause.” Helmer arrives to perform with full production sound, stage and lighting, suitable for crowds (up to 350). Larger events should have more appropriate equipment on hand.

Good causes that will benefit range from the Kostopulos Dream Foundation (http://www.campk.org/) in Salt Lake City, UT to the Historic Homestake Opera House (http://www.leadoperahouse.org/) in Lead, SD, from Second Harvest Community Food Bank (https://www.ourcommunityfoodbank.org/) in St. Joseph, MO to the Grand Auditorium (http://www.grandonline.org/) in Ellsworth, ME. Helmer’s entire adventure will be filmed for his new television show called What Are You Waiting For? that will not only document his tour and fundraising mission, but also share stories and feature the people and places that make America great. From companies to towns to individuals from all walks of life, Helmer’s show will spotlight those who have overcome adversity and are making a difference in people’s lives and communities.  After making a huge mistake back in 2008 that cost him everything, including both his livelihood and his family, Helmer decided to not give up, hit the reset button on his life and created a new one based on three simple things, creating music, performing music, and helping others.

To help offset his touring expenses while performing for free, Helmer will be selling copies of his CD, Wake Me When It’s Over (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/wake-me-when-its-over-ep/id657625285), for $5 at each show. Recorded at the Waterfront Studios (http://www.waterfrontstudios.org/Waterfront_Studio/Henry_Hirsch.html) of Grammy award-winning producer Henry Hirsch (whose credits include Lenny Kravitz, Madonna and Mick Jagger), this contagious, radio-friendly rock album was written and performed by Helmer and his photographer-musician brother, Rich Helmer (http://richhelmer.com/). Its songs describe journeys of pain and loss, but ultimately point towards a pathway of hope.
