Frank Pearson, P.E. Joins GPI as Director of Traffic Safety

Frank Pearson, P.E., retired NYSDOT Acting Regional Director for Long Island, NY, joins Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. as Director of Traffic Safety in its Babylon, NY office.

BABYLON, N.Y. - March 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Frank Pearson has joined Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI), an engineering and construction services firm, as director of transportation safety in its Babylon, NY office.

In his new position, Mr. Pearson will provide senior project management related to traffic operations, safety studies, expert testimony, and he will be involved with staff and industry-wide training sessions in the areas of vehicular and pedestrian safety and traffic calming, as well as overall QA/QC for the firm.

Having spent his entire career with New York State Department of Transportation, Mr. Pearson held key positions with the Department, culminating as the acting regional director for the Long Island Region 10 area. He also served as regional traffic engineer for 11 years, traffic operations manager for five years, and project development manager for three years. Mr. Pearson retired in November, 2013.

Mr. Pearson’s project experience included developing detailed studies of pedestrian safety concerns and preparing a comprehensive list of improvements; investigating and mitigating high accident locations; the design of numerous traffic safety and operation contracts within the region managing both his own engineering staff and consultants; analyzed traffic impact studies and environmental impact statements for private developments affecting state highway operations; approved the issuance of highway work permits to developers after ensuring that access and traffic impact concerns have been satisfactorily addressed; he has identified safety, operational and infrastructure needs for the region’s capital program and proposed improvement alternatives to address identified needs; worked with elected officials, municipalities and community groups to address transportation concerns; oversaw the operation of the INFORM traffic management system, and directed emergency response to weather events and infrastructure damage.

A professional engineer in New York State, Mr. Pearson earned his civil engineering degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and the New York State Association of Transportation Engineers. He currently resides in East Patchogue, NY.
