BROOKLYN, N.Y. - March 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Following the filing of a false arrest lawsuit on November 20, 2013, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of NY, the Honorable Joan M. Azrack Ordered attorneys for the parties to appear for an early settlement conference on March 3, 2014. Michael J. Redenburg, Esq. appeared for the Plaintiff, Lillian Valentin, and an Assistant Corporation Counsel from the City's Special Federal Litigation Division appeaered for the City of New York. Following the conference, the parties worked to resolve the matter.

Allegations within Ms. Valentin's Complaint included that she was stopped and searched while attempting to park her car in front of her Brooklyn home. The NYPD agents, she alleged, rummaged through her bag within her automobile to find one of her prescription medication pills within the body of her asthma inhaler. The Complaint went on to say that Ms. Valentin offered the NYPD Officers that her daughter was upstairs and could provide her prescription for the single pill of prescribed medication found by the NYPD agents. However, the NYPD agents declined her offer and she was arrested and charged with a Class A Misdemeanor, 220.03, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. At arraignment, the matter was ACD adjouned in contemplation of dismissal.

In settling the matter, neither the City of New York nor the NYPD admit that they in any way violated Ms. Valentin's rights, or the rights of any other person or entity, as defined in the constitutions, statutes, ordinances, rules or regulations of the United States, the State of New York, or the City of New York or any other rules or regulations of any department or subdivision of the City of New York.
