The Dandies Project in its physical form will be a yearly coffee table book that will highlight each dandies individual style and background. Our mission is simple, "giving new life to the story of the man of color". The goal of this book will be to bring more positive light to the role of men of color in society and to also bring light to local and national non-profits who are making positive strides in bringing positive impact to the community.
Originally the brainchild of Richard Moody of IamMoody (a local event and fashion promotion company), Mr. Moody inspired by his own personal belieft in highlighting role models for future generations reached out to local Minneapolis businesses, Handsome Cycles, a local business dedicated to creating the best cycles, accessories and experiences in the cycling world and Playfessionals a local lifestyle brand designed to merge thriving professionals with local businesses. Completing the Dandies Team are Susan Swanson creator/owner of StyleBySusan and Renee Larson creator/owner of The Bowtieshoppe.
In association with Minneapolis photographer Nick Gallop of Gallop Studios the dream has come to life. This book features 17 professional men of color throughout the twin cities region. This year's selected Dandies are: Amara Solomon Kamara; Nicholas Hooks; Dane Edward Johnson; Justin Parker; Chris McDuffie; Bryon Shannon; Jamel Harris; Richard Moody; Raynardo Williams; Keith Dorsett; Corey Nicolas Collins; Ini Iyamba; Will Shuford; Dennis Spears; Reuben Thompson-Amartefio;
This event will begin at 7 pm and will provide an opportunity for attendees to meet and visit with each of the individual Dandies featured in the book and allow for the viewing and ordering of the coffee table book. A portion of the profits from this book will go to benefit local nonprofit assistance programs for education and literacy of young adults in our community. Entertainment and refreshments will be offered at the launch.
"The energy and excitement around this release is quite exciting, giving many in the metro an opportunity to share their visions and dreams", stated Moody, "It will be a fun evening, one to be remembered for years to come."
