Nazi-looted Artwork And Present-day Terrorism: Out Of Recent Headlines And Into A New Novel

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - March 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Author Barbara Erlichman has just published her second novel, Yesterday’s Enemy. It’s about an art historian who agrees to inventory an art collection at a remote chateau in France.  Within weeks Katrina discovers that she’s also expected to smuggle terrorists out of the country and dispose of artworks confiscated during World War II – the flip side of the movie The Monuments Men.

The mastermind behind both schemes is Baron la Tache de Gervay. On the surface he’s a charming aristocrat, but behind the smile is a ruthless businessman who won’t allow anything to ruin his schemes.  Nick Santini, supposedly checking out the area for a company that plans to build a ski resort, is determined to bring Gervay down. Katrina and Nick team up, and with the French Riviera as a backdrop, they race against the clock to trap Gervay and prevent a planned terrorist bombing in NYC.

When Erlichman first started writing the novel, she never realized that terrorism and looted Nazi art would remain so timeless and topical. “I certainly didn’t expect terrorists to develop so many ways to threaten the lives of ordinary Americans, nor did I think paintings confiscated during World War II would still keep turning up,” said Erlichman.  “When I was thinking of an unorthodox way for Gervay to compensate his contacts, the idea of using artwork as barter came to mind. It seemed pretty far fetched at the time. Little did I realize that a huge trove of looted art would turn up in Munich in 2013.”

Yesterday's Enemy is available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, Bowker’s Books in Print.com, Google eBookstore, Kobo, Scribd, iBookstore for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and can also be ordered through booksellers or iUniverse.com.
