The Garden Court Hotel, downtown Palo Alto’s only luxury boutique hotel, is launching an elegant pop-up restaurant series it calls 520 Chef’s Table (the hotel is located at 520 Cowper St.), which will take place the 3rd Thursday of each month. The first such event takes place on March 20th, featuring the culinary artistry of acclaimed Executive Chef Clive Berkman, delicious cocktails and wine pairings, and the exquisite ambiance of the Garden Court Hotel.
The multi-course menu isn’t finalized until the day of the event. Why? Because Chef Berkman is a committed devotee of sourcing the freshest organic ingredients from local partners whenever possible.
520 Chef’s Table is Palo Alto’s introduction to a pop-up restaurant series genre that is sweeping the nation. According to PopUp Republic, a national social media marketing company that concentrates on the American pop-up scene, the new Palo Alto pop-up illustrates why pop-ups have become so popular: “One thing that separates pop-up restaurants from permanent ones is that it they unleash the immense talents of some of the country’s best chefs. Not confined to pre-set menus, chefs are able to experiment and delight customers with food that is different and unexpected,”
According to Baras, there is another aspect of pop-up restaurants that make them special. “At pop-up restaurants, it isn’t only about the food. It’s also about the dining experience. Having a pop-up restaurant series take place in the luxurious surroundings of a boutique hotel is going to make the night truly unique,” Baras continued.
