The more effective way to make New Years Resolutions

This week iGlobalWellness reveals the results of their study into how people in the UK make New Years Resolutions, and how we’re getting it drastically wrong

PRLog - March 12, 2014 - CENTRAL LONDON, U.K. -- London, UK – In January 95% of Brits made some sort of New Years Resolution. Here are the three things we wished for, prayed for and failed to plan efficiently for in 2014:

Top New Years Resolutions:

1.     Lose weight

2.     Get fit

3.     Eat more healthily

For all but the pessimistic 5% of us the sad news is that most of us have already abandoned our resolutions. In fact, only 8% of us will actually reach the goals we set ourselves on January 1st.

And it gets worse. The average spend of failed January fitness enthusiasts comes in at £987.31! The main bulk of this expense goes on gym memberships that do no more than plague our conscience for the next 11 months of the year. Other items such as home gym equipment and the latest sports shoes and clothing also added to the total outlay.

So should we join the 5% and reconcile ourselves to a life of eternal festive indulgence? iGlobalWellness has a better idea. In the last year their Stay Active Challenges have been helping corporate employees to turn their January ideals into sustainable realities. On average participants have increased their daily activity level by a life changing 70% and its not surprising that this is having a marked effect on productivity. 73% of previous Stay Active Challenge participants have reported an improved ability to manage stress and 64% reported having more energy at work.

The Stay Active Challenge enables business to give their employees their ideal 2014 without any of the cost, energy or frustration.

1) Do away with the cost

Save your employees the burden of forking out on gym memberships they'll never use and put activity at the centre of their lives for as little as £30.

2) Save valuable time

Going to the gym takes time, not to mention self-discipline. What if your employees could gain points and achieve their goals by fitting activity into their typical day?

3) Create a New Years Resolution support network

A study published by the University of California in 2011 found that people who exercised as part of a group missed 70% fewer exercise sessions than those who tried to go it alone. And even more importantly, 86% of participants who exercised with colleagues said that they felt closer to their colleagues as a result of their shared fitness regime. The Stay Active Challenge turns colleagues into coaches and its not surprising that 60% of previous participants have said that going to work is more enjoyable since taking part in the Challenge.

This year give your employees the tools, support, motivation and momentum they need to get everything they hope out of 2014. They'll thank you!
