Salem Community College unveils new process operator program

Beginning this fall, Salem Community College will offer a Process Operator Technology program that prepares students for immediate employment as process technicians in a variety of industries.

Graduates will possess the skills to work as qualified, competent process technicians in the petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual median salary for process technicians in the chemical field is $43,000.

“This exciting new associate degree ties into the College’s mission of offering programs that lead to high-wage jobs,” said SCC’s Vice President of Academic Services and Chief Academic Officer Mark McCormick.  “In fact, we developed the program based on increased demand for qualified workers from area industries.”

Eligible students may qualify for paid summer internships at the nearby Paulsboro Refining Company.

Students may register for classes starting Monday, April 7.
