No Auditions Required, Greenwich Ballet Academy launches Early Prep program for 2-5 year olds

The Early Prep program focuses on the love of dance in young children

PRLog - Mar. 11, 2014 - GREENWICH, Conn. -- With its long history of award winning performances and international acclaim, the Greenwich Ballet Academy (GBA) (http://greenwichballetacademy.org/) is the place for children to learn the art of ballet and grow as a professional dancer. Students of GBA are given pre-professional training in classical ballet and a chance to participate in productions alongside GBA’s seasoned talent. Now children as young as two years of age can be a part of the Academy’s program with the recently launched Early Prep program.

“The Early Prep program is designed to introduce young children to ballet without the pressure of an audition,” explained Jeanne Hendrickson, GBA Chairman of the Board. “This is an incredible opportunity to introduce them to the joys of ballet, and combine expert guidance with a fun and engaging class.”

The program features three dance classes, based on the age of the child. Mothers of two to three year olds can join their children in Dance 1, which is known as the Mommy and Me program. The next two classes, for 3-4 and 4-5 years old, are known as Creative Movement classes. All classes aim to bring out the love of dance in children.

There are no auditions required for the Early Prep program, but there is a registration fee of $25 and a tuition fee of $311. All classes will be held at 181 Westchester Avenue on the third floor. The classes run from March 11th to June 6th.

However the training doesn’t stop there. “If a child graduates from our Early Prep program, they’re automatically accepted into our Pre-Academy level 1 class,” said Yuri Vodolaga, GBA’s Artistic Director. “We want to be there every step of the way as these kids grow as ballet dancers.”

About Greenwich Ballet Academy

The Greenwich Ballet Academy, recently voted the best local ballet program by Serendipity magazine (http://greenwichballetacademy.org/gba-voted-best-ballet-p...), is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) institution that nurtures talented dancers, ages 4-21, toward careers in classical ballet and contemporary dance with a unique emphasis on the Russian Vaganova method of instruction. GBA is the only school in the lower Fairfield and Westchester County area to offer this specialized type of training.

The professional faculty also provides classes in modern and character dance, and contemporary ballet. Small classes, taught by renowned professionals, ensure that each student is given the personal attention and instruction needed to reach her/his ultimate potential. The Academy takes great care in directing each of its students on an individual path toward excellence.

Our goal is to make classical ballet and contemporary dance accessible to any talented child with a dream of being a professional dancer, and to give each student an opportunity to acquire the needed skills and stage experience crucial to her/his future in dance.

GBA students have earned accolades at international ballet competitions and have joined professional ballet companies. For more information on performances and training, please visit the GBA website: www.greenwichballetacademy.org.
