Green Meeting Industry Council Partners with Stop Hunger Now for Annual Conference

Sustainable Meetings Conference Raises the Bar for Non-Profit Contributions

SAN FRANCISCO - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- The GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference officially announced today its partnership with Stop Hunger Now as a donation campaign working towards the goal of packaging 40,000 meals during GMIC’s annual event held April 15–17, in San Francisco. During registration for the conference, attendees are encouraged to donate an additional $5.25 which will provide 21 meals to those in need. GMIC is halfway to their goal through contributions made by Hartmann Studios and InVision. Conference attendees will be packaging the meals on Wednesday, April 16 during the Community and Social Responsibility Lunch and Activity.

Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 15 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.

Stop Hunger Now created its meal packaging program in 2005. The program perfected the assembly process that combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix. The meal includes 21 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packets and only costs 25 cents to produce. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of two years and transports quickly. Stop Hunger Now works with international partners that ship and distribute the meals in 37 different countries.
