Youfit Health Clubs (http://www.youfit.com)
Youfit operates on a business model that’s unusual in the tradition-bound health club industry.
“We’ve tried to offer a concept – and an experience – that’s much different than the usual health club,” says company Founder/President Rick Berks. “We’re not geared toward bodybuilders or ‘gym rats’…but, instead, toward the average person who just wants to stay in shape. We don’t have long-term contracts…you pay month-to-month. We don’t have salespeople…
The “Youfit” name is the company’s philosophy. These are clubs where “you” can “fit” in, without feeling uncomfortable, and without dealing with pushy salespeople. The equipment is all new, and all American-made. And the fees are likely the lowest you’ll see for a first-class club.
“I’ve actually had people tell me they’d have to get in shape before walking into a health club,” Rick Berks says. “But we’re building clubs for people who don’t want to deal with the trauma and drama of the usual health club. And we’re very excited about west Tennessee.”
Berks is a successful entrepreneur in this field, with a colorful story – and, in addition to the Shelby club he’s opening next, he’s scouting more locations in west Tennessee. I’ll follow up in a few days to see if I can answer any questions. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you’d like to speak with Rick Berks, or the manager of the new Cordova club.
