PHOENIX - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- When first looking at Katryna Eastwood, you would see her as a bubbly and happy sixteen year old girl and well, she has a lot to be happy about. At just sixteen years old she has done the impossible by making her mark in the music industry all the way from Buckeye, Arizona. On top of all this, Katryna still attends local cowboy mounted shooting events and is on her way to becoming a high level in the sport.

Katryna’s love for music began at a young age. She would dance around the house and read piano music by the time she was in preschool. Her parents tried getting her involved in numerous of activities such as soccer and tennis but she never clicked with anything else. After moving to Arizona in 2004, Katryna sang at a local talent show for the first time, leading her to get accepted into the Anderson Institute of Music (AIM). Katryna expanded her piano knowledge as well as began vocal lessons with the owner of AIM, Angela Anderson. Angela then introduced Katryna to her husband, Ed Anderson, who taught Katryna how to play guitar and exposed her to the world of songwriting. She began writing a song a night once she came home from school with the few chords she knew on guitar.

“I wasn’t born with the natural gift of songwriting.” Katryna laughs. “I would have a rhyming dictionary book open and a notebook filled with songs that were just okay, I was never fully satisfied with what I was writing… I think I was a little too young at the time to write about my views of the world because I wasn’t exposed to enough of it yet. Some of the songs I would write weren’t that bad, but I knew I could do better I just had to figure out how to connect what I feel to lyrics.” AIM worked with her constantly until the day came where she wrote a song that could have made jaws drop. “It wasn’t a perfect song, but it was enough to prove that I can do this, I can write music.” After a few years filled with performances and more growth in songwriting, Katryna was signed on to Skywalk Records in 2012.

At the same time, Katryna was also being introduced to the world of horseback riding, attending lessons with Megan and Gary (Bad Dog) Bennett. Megan and Gary showed Katryna the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting. Katryna, her father, Mike Eastwood Vice President of ACMSA and her horse JRS Fancy Star began attending local shoots.

They have expanded to events all over Arizona, California and New Mexico. Katryna progressed rapidly in the sport winning multiple belt buckles and earned the “Most Improved Rider” award with the ACMSA in 2013 and is the Western National Champion L1 with SASS for 2013.

“I suppose I never expected how much I would love this sport.” Katryna says, “I’m so grateful for everyone accepting me. Not every adult wants to hang out with a sixteen year old but they’re all my biggest supporters and friends.

For her first single, “All the Girls Go Bang” she decided to combine her two loves of mounted shooting and music. Katryna, Ed Anderson and her father all had a part in developing this song. Katryna was hesitant to release the song way before her album was supposed to be released (almost a year) but her decision was smart because the buzz from the song lead to an opportunity for Katryna to write the music and lyrics title song for an all Arizona Western film called “Copper Wind”, Where the director Chaz Lee gave Katryna a chance to develop a song for his movie which was released on iTunes in October, 2012. The move is to be released the summer of 2014.

As if that weren’t impressive enough in late March 2014, Katryna will release her first debut album “Small Town Roads”. The album features songs for music lovers of every kind. This highly anticipated album has been causing a stir on social media everywhere. Her first single release off the album was “Silver Suitcase” on February 2014 and the second single is “Wounded”., released March 10 2014 on iTunes and Amazon.  Katryna says, “I’m proud of this album. It’s different than what you hear on the radio and I think there’s a song on there for everyone to relate to.”

On the another note Katryna love writing so much she also has written two books over the past few years, and when we say a book we are looking at 300 pages of excitement and entertainment. She is working on the final version then plans on publishing them in 2015.

All Katryna’s songs can be found on iTunes and Amazon MP3.  To follow Katryna and learn more about performances and release dates, you can find her on Facebook  facebook.com/KatrynaMusic and her website www.katrynaeastwood.com.
