L.E.K. Consulting appoints experienced pharmaceutical exec. to help lead South American expansion

SAO PAULO - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- L.E.K. Consulting, a global management consulting firm, announced today that it has appointed Marcelo do Ó as managing director and partner, to help lead its São Paulo office and the firm’s biopharmaceutical and life sciences practice in South America.

“Marcelo’s addition to the L.E.K. partnership will both continue to strengthen our South American presence and complement our global expertise in biopharmaceuticals and life sciences,” said Peter McKelvey, president of L.E.K.’s Americas region. “Serving the multinational needs of our clients is paramount to our mission, and we are thrilled to have Marcelo as part of our team to help achieve this goal.”

Mr. do Ó brings to L.E.K. a combined 20 years of experience and leadership in both the pharmaceutical industry and management consulting. He joins L.E.K. from Monitor Group Brazil, where he was an associate partner.  Prior to joining Monitor, he held various leadership roles at Novo Nordisk, including general manager of Brazil, operations director for Latin America, and head of emerging markets strategy. He also served as the Brazil country president for Sandoz, where he was responsible for all lines including oncology, biologics, prescription, and generics.

Mr. do Ó earned a B.S. in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering from Pontfícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
