Follow on Google News | "Art Saving Lives" at March Flagler Fine Art FestivalThe third "Art Saving Lives" blood drive to be held at the March 16th Flagler Fine Art Festival is another compelling reason to visit the festival series that prides itself on its dedication to "fine art, for everyone".
By: City of Flagler Beach/Flagler Fine Art Festivals Encouraging blood donation is a cause that is close to the heart of festival director, Justine Wintersmith, who lost her father to cancer. Featured full season festival artist Linda Solomon has also recently been diagnosed with cancer, and her painting, "Ocean of Life" will be on display and raffle tickets sold to assist with her cancer treatment. The winning ticket will drawn at the April 27th (4th Sunday due to Easter) festival. Cancer treatment is among the the top uses for donated blood, and the festival hopes to meet or beat its previous record of 24 units collected. Appointments may be made on the festival website at http://www.FlaglerFineArtFest.com, but are not required to donate. The growing "third Sunday" festival series focus has always been showcasing the best juried fine art by Florida artists, touting a "selection to suit every style and budget". All artwork displayed at the festivals has been pre-judged for quality and originality-- Festival artwork purchases of $50 or more may be eligible for "thank you" gift certificates to local restuarants and businesses (subject to availability) The festivals also produce a weekly art events newsletter--a "go-to" resource for those seeking the latest in local culture. For more information, visit http://www.FlaglerFineArtFest.com or call (386)986-9567. Artists may apply up to 3 days prior to each festival, and there is no application fee. See website for details.
