Actor Malik Yoba To Host UCAP's 50th Anniversay Gala In Washington, DC

Fundraiser to Promote Programs to Assist the Poor and Underserved

CAPITAL HEIGHTS, Md. - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- United Communities Against Poverty, Inc. (UCAP) celebrates 50 Years of Service to Prince George’s County communities with a Black-Tie Anniversary Gala held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center and hosted by popular television actor Malik Yoba.

Yoba, perhaps best known as the star of the acclaimed television series, "New York Undercover," and Tyler Perry’s hit movies, "Why Did I Get Married Parts 1 and 2", has been an inspiration to at-risk populations and has worked to create opportunities for those in need.

This year’s event theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Service…Creating Pathways to Self-Sufficiency,” will be showcased throughout the gala’s program including guest visits from notable community leaders that have worked to strengthen and support programs that reduce vulnerability among the poor, as well as promote growth, stability and self-sufficiency for Prince George’s County residents. The honorary event chairs: Congresswoman Donna Edwards, Senator Joanne Benson and Council Member Andrea C. Harrison will be amongst the first of many leaders scheduled to attend this event.

United Communities Against Poverty, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit and home of Shepherd’s Cove Emergency Shelter, celebrates 50 years of service to Prince George’s County low-income and homeless residents. Celebrity Guest Host Malik Yoba will MC the event along with special honorary guests Congresswoman Donna Edwards, Senator Joanne Benson and Council Member Andrea C. Harrison.
