A number of fascinating lots were entered and achieved high prices, with the most noteable being a fine walnut George II Bureau From The Percival Griffiths Collection, which fetched £30,000. The stunning bureau was sold along with a receipt from Mallet & Son, London - showing that it was bought by one Captain Hugh Vivian on 7th October 1943. A number of stunning pieces of furniture made their mark; in particular an 18th Century Portuguese rosewood commode which made £4,200. Furthermore, an 18th Century figured walnut kneehole desk fetched £4600. And it wasn't just furniture that featured in this Oxford auction. There were a number of other fascinating results in this particular sale, including a 19th Century jug, which made £2000. The design depicted an early steam train, and generated a lot of interest in the room. In the Art & Silverware section, a George III satinwood linen press achieved £2,600, and two pairs of matching early George III silver candlesticks made a total of £5,200. Along with the more traditional items in February's Fine Furniture, Silver & Works of Art Sale, there were a number of unusual entries. Most noteably, a George III brass dog collar reached over £1000, far exceeding the estimate of £200 - £300.
