WASHINGTON - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Arlington, VA – Female brewers unite! On Saturday, March 8, female brewers of the world joined together for the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (#IWCB) to raise funds for a variety of charities. For the first time in history, women across the globe came together to brew for worthy causes and raise awareness of female brewing professionals. More than 70 breweries worldwide participated including DC’s own Capitol City Brewing Company, who hosted an all-female collaborative brewing event with numerous localbrewsters. Kristi Griner, director of brewing operations at Capitol City, hosted a team of ladies from Devil’s Backbone, DC Brau, Meridian Pint, Port City and several homebrewers to create the Unite Pale Ale.

The Unite Pale Ale is a four percent ABV session beer brewed with Maris Otter malt, Golden Naked oats and Cascade hops, which taps at both Capitol City Brewing Company locations and at Meridian Pint later this month. A portion of the proceeds from the beer sales will be donated to the Pink Boots Society – an organization with the goal of educating and empowering women beer professionals to succeed in the business. The beer will also make an appearance this April in Denver at the Craft Brewers Conference’s first all-female tap takeover at Ernie’s Bar & Pizza.
