CENTURION, South Africa - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- In partnership with the non-profit initiative, Toys for Africa, South African based ICT consulting and service development specialist Ukuvuma Solutions has donated stationery to the value of R4000 to learners at Orefile Primary School in Olievenhoutbosch, Gauteng. The donation represents the company’s ongoing commitment to the education of the country’s future generation.

With the economic realities facing stakeholders within the education environment, businesses have the opportunity to play an even greater role in basic education and supplementing resources in order to help equip learners with the necessary foundation skills to one day add value to the economy.

Leadership at Orefile Primary explained that there was a shortage of stationery and this represented a daily challenge to their operaions.

Ukuvuma Solutions, through its partnership with Toys for Africa, ensured that each of the 970 pupils received a sufficient supply of writing equipment – enough to last them until the end of the second term this year.

Toys for Africa is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) whose main purpose is to address the needs of underprivileged children in South Africa and Africa. These needs fall into several key categories including education.

Although the initiative’s primary objective is to ensure that every child in Africa benefits from a new toy, this role is extended to garner support from industry and commerce to help with education.

Jason Smit, Director, Microsoft Technologies at Ukuvuma Solutions, stresses the significance of this alliance and explained why the Company believes its contribution can make a difference.

“We were approached by members of this worthwhile cause to help meet an immediate need in a school. This is not just about fulfilling corporate social investment obligations, it is about empowerment, about strengthening the foundations of education – without which no country, irrespective of the will and spirit to prosper, can do so. We are proud of our ongoing contribution to Toys for Africa,” Smit says.
