Cleaning Chemicals, Protecting Workers & Indoor Air Quality Discussed in New Video

PHOENIX - March 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video.  Their newest production discusses cleaning chemicals, protecting workers and indoor air quality (IAQ).

Cleaning chemicals are used in the workplace to ensure the cleanliness of a building.  Workers who frequently handle these products include building maintenance workers, janitors and housekeepers, among others. Many of these same chemicals are also frequently used in people’s homes as well.

“Chemicals in some cleaning products can be irritating to the skin or can cause rashes,”said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network and the new public outreach video.  “Cleaning products that contain corrosive chemicals can cause severe burns if splashed on the skin or in the eyes.  Mists, vapors and gases from cleaning chemicals can irritate the eyes, nose, throat and lungs.  Symptoms may include burning eyes, sore throat, coughing, trouble breathing and wheezing.  Chemicals in some cleaning products can cause asthma or trigger asthma attacks. Some cleaning products even contain hazardous chemicals that can enter the body through skin contact or from breathing gases into the lungs. We hope this video helps to shed some light on some of the health and safety issues regarding the use of cleaning chemicals.”
