Climate Partners Looks at the Big Picture of Renewable Energy Efficiency

Connecticut company takes "whole home" approach to energy efficiency.

MILFORD, Conn. - March 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Seeking to revolutionize the way we think about renewable energy in our home heating and cooling systems, Climate Partners is launching an initiative to treat houses as a single, functioning unit, rather than a mass of individual systems.

"We help existing homeowners look at their whole house," says Tom Casey, owner of Climate Partners. "This always includes recommendations on things you’d expect, like heating and cooling systems, but also on many things you might not expect, from your roof to your basement. Unless the entire home is made efficient, the homeowner will be wasting huge amounts of energy and money.”

According to Climate Partners, over 60% of all home duct systems have insufficient air flow, and 70% of homes are simply under-insulated. "The average American house is two-and-a-half times leakier than it should be for optimal energy and health," says Casey. "Our goal is to educate and inform homeowners, and then partner with them to implement the best solution for their unique home."

The "whole home" approach examines every aspect of a home's existing systems, including heating, water heating, cooling, insulation, ductwork, and the structure itself (foundation, walls, etc). Climate Partners identifies what's working properly as well as what's not, and assesses whether a less-than-optimal system can be fixed or upgraded. If neither option is feasible, Climate Partners will recommend a suitable replacement that will work well in that particular home.

Once a home has been optimized, a renewable energy system can begin paying for itself immediately, using the offset amount for a homeowner's pre-existing energy bills. "What's really exciting is the affordability and scalability for the average homeowner," says Casey. "In the past, some of these complex systems were only a reality for the wealthy. However, it's now so much easier for the average homeowner to implement a renewable energy system into their home."
