By: Operation Rock the Warrior The MARSOC Foundation aims to meet needs unmet by the government with an emphasis on building personal and family resiliency and supporting the full reintegration of MARSOC Marines and Sailors following wounds, injuries and extended deployments. Sam Kritzer founded Operation Rock the Warrior after he and his brother were introduced to Marine Special Operator (MARSOC), Derek Herrera who was shot by enemy fire and immediately paralyzed from the chest down, while deployed in Afghanistan a year and a half ago. In spite of his injury, Derek re-enlisted in 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion as a Staff Officer, finished his first triathlon and enrolled in graduate school at UCLA. Kritzer said, “I was so touched by Derek’s courage, determination and ability to be completely positive in spite of a life altering injury. It is because of Derek and the many thousands of Warriors, that I have the freedom and opportunity to follow my musical dreams.” Rock The Warrior will be hosted by the talented and funny Jorge Garcia (Lost), with a concert by Sam Kritzer’s band, MELTED VINYL. Tickets are $18 and available at www.RocktheWarrior.com WHAT: Rock the Warrior Celebration, MARSOC Foundation Fundraiser WHEN: March 8, 2014 – 11AM (in the morning) WHERE: The Whisky A Go Go 8901 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069 WHO: Hosted by Gorge Garcia (Lost) with 30 Special Marines from Camp Pendleton INVITED: Tom Arnold (True Lies), Esai Morales (Criminal Minds), Bo Roberts (300: Rise of an Empire) ABOUT THE MARSOC FOUNDATION The MARSOC Foundation’s goal is to show America's Marines and veterans the appreciation of United States citizens as well as to share with citizens other ways to help support our Marine Corp. Today, MARSOC is deployed in over 40 countries around the world. The average MARSOC Critical Skills Operator is away from home and family more than 50% of the time, either on deployment or out-of-area training. During their service to our country, they are often exposed to combat and other hazardous activities that can have immediate and lasting impacts. As demand grows for the unique services of MARSOC, so too does the need for benevolent support.
