- The Kingdom Builders’ Center announced today the launch of a new Construction Contractors’
College (CCC) beginning May 20, 2014. The free nine-month program is designed to prepare minority business owners inconstruction and construction services to bid on contracts in the public and private sectors.
Eligible candidates for the CCC program are construction-
related business owners who have been in business for one year and have filed the appropriate tax returns with the IRS for at least one year. The application form, developed with the assistance of Capital One Bank, is available online by clicking on the CCC icon at www.thekbc.com (http://thekbc.com/)
. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m., March 14, 2014. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the program in early May. Classes will be held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
According to Tandelyn Weaver, Executive Director of The Kingdom Builders’ Center, a team of representatives from certifying agencies, experienced sub- and general contractors and successful small businesses helped define and shape the course offerings. “The result is a comprehensive curriculum strategically designed to provide relevant and useful information that business owners can put into practice immediately,”
says Weaver. Course topics to be taught by experienced leaders include credit awareness, specialized business plan development, certification, back office enhancement, bidding, project management and access to capital.
Stated outcomes for the CCC’s graduates include:
· Learning to develop a business structure and plan around their skill or trade;
· Meeting general contractors;
· Strengthening opportunities to secure financing;
· Gaining direct access to METRO’s (Metropolitan Transit Authority) express certification
· Receiving mentoring, coaching and counseling from experienced professionals,
including SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives) and other seasoned consultants.
