Wolsey Lodges offer overnight stays in some of the most interesting and beautiful private homes. There are nearly 40 Wolsey Lodges in the south west (including Somerset) but the network spans England, Wales and Scotland plus a few in France. Castles, manor houses, working farms, town houses and rectories, they all share a standard of hospitality in the strongest sense of the word. They are great places too for the gregarious traveller, keen to meet new people and possibly even make new friends. The warmth of a genuine home environment is combined with personal touches and comforts that you would expect to find in any quality hotel.
New properties are constantly being added to the collection so check the website for updates. All Wolsey Lodge members have been rigorously vetted to ensure they meet exacting standards and each guest enjoys a home from home atmosphere. The standard of food is top-notch too and many members will also provide a delicious dinner, by prior arrangement, often served ‘casual, dinner party style’ so guests can get to know each other.
All bedrooms have en suite or private facilities and prices start from just £80 a room for B&B (based on two sharing). On arrival, guests are offered afternoon tea,
The legendary Wolsey Lodge breakfast will set you up for a day’s activities, no matter how energetic you plan to be. Home-cooked food - locally sourced where possible – is typical, and many hosts make their own bread and preserves and keep their own chickens.
Special offers are usually available and one member, Pentillie Castle in Cornwall, is even offering a 10 per cent discount to ‘green’ travellers arriving by bus, boat, bicycle, foot or electric car - check the website for details.
