New Twist on All-Inclusive Family Vacation

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - March 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Take a step back in time.  Remember when a family vacation meant embracing the open road and setting out for new horizons? Each summer our family would plan a vacation centered around a trip in our old Ford station wagon.  Excited for the adventure ahead, Dad tinkered under the hood for days while mom planned healthy, kid-friendly meals for the road. Sure, we always had a final destination planned - but the real vacation was the drive.

To this day, our family road trip to Alaska stands out as the most memorable. We encountered wildlife we had previously seen only on TV. I had my first fishing lesson.  Our family soaked in remote hot springs under the stars, and my brother and I dared each other to swim in frigid lakes.  We came across stunning landscapes that begged to be hiked and shared laughs around the campfire. A real family vacation.

Unfortunately, high fuel prices, shorter vacation times, and the lack of clear, concise information about the long haul to Alaska have made the trip out of reach for many families. Until now.

At Northern Adventure Tours we have reinvented the classic American road trip to suit modern lifestyles. Our all-inclusive self-drive auto tours between Spokane, Washington and Anchorage, Alaska include a private car, gourmet meals, and luxury camping accommodations unlike anything else you will find in the north. We provide the car so you and your family can cruise at your own pace – stopping and seeing the sights you want to see: wildlife, landmarks, shopping, and scenic views.  All our tours are one-way, meaning you’ll only drive the 2,500-mile route (Washington State to Anchorage or Fairbanks) once – and be able to cruise or fly home!

We begin in Spokane, Washington before passing hot springs, waterfalls, lakes and the small, funky towns that dot southeastern BC. From the Kootenay Rockies, we’ll ride the Continental Divide along the spectacular Icefield Parkway. A free day allows exploration of breathtaking Athabasca Falls, Miette Hot Springs or the boutiques and gourmet restaurants of downtown Jasper. Leaving the Rockies behind, traverse the British Columbia plateau through Prince George and plunge through the heart of the Coastal Range to the tidewater towns of Stewart, BC and Hyder, Alaska. Roll past glaciers, wildlife, alpine lakes and rivers before hitting the Alaska Highway and the Yukon River – one of the ten longest rivers in the world. Visit Whitehorse, capital and largest city of the Yukon Territory. An easy hike to the stunning Miles Canyon teaches visitors about the gold rush history of the north. Drive past Canada’s tallest peak in Kluane National Park and cross into Alaska for a stunning drive down the Tok Cutoff.  Wrangell – St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in North America, is our last night on the road. Our trip concludes with a drive past the Matanuska Glacier and the Chugach Mountains before arriving in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Visit http://www.northernadventuretours.com/the-route/ to learn more about our exclusive Northern Adventure Tours route.

We provide and set up all the luxury camping equipment for your arrival each night including deluxe canvas wall tents, linens, beds and mattresses, camp chairs and tables. Enjoy exclusive access to private hot showers – whether you choose to use on-site facilities when available or our custom-built mobile shower trailer. Free WiFi is also available in camp most nights – allowing you to post photos, check email and stay connected.

Our camp chef will delight your palate with excellent meals – packed lunch for the road, and breakfast and dinner served daily in camp and cooked to order – all featuring some of the finest local foods from the communities we visit.  Have a kid with an allergy?  Someone who doesn’t think fresh veggies and vacations go together?  Our chef will do a personal menu consultation – at no charge – to make sure your dining experience exceeds expectations.

You will feel safe and secure knowing that experienced guides are at-the-ready to provide you with suggestions and assistance - from changing tires to sharing special sites and stops along the way.  This tour is an excellent way to introduce your family to camping and the great outdoors.  While we are happy to pamper our guests and provide all services, our friendly guides are happy to teach camping skills to anyone hoping to learn.

Two tour types are available: a 12-day Northbound to Alaska tour that begins in Spokane, WA, and an 8-day Southbound Road Rally that begins in Anchorage, Alaska. Custom tours are also available upon request. We invite you to join us for a classic family vacation:  An unforgettable adventure for you and your family along some of the last wild roads in North America.

At Northern Adventure Tours, our guides are long-time Alaskans with many years of experience in the Northern Outdoors.  With over 30 Alaska Highway trips under our belts, we know this country well.  From dog mushing to commercial fishing to building cabins in the woods, we have lived the Alaskan lifestyle – and we are ready to share it with you!
