PRLog - Mar. 6, 2014 - DENVER -- Denver, Colorado, March 6, 2014: David Peterson, Senior LHP at Regis Jesuit High School in Denver, Colorado underwent surgery yesterday, March 5, 2014 to repair the fibula in his right leg which was broken in two places and is listed in very good condition.  The procedure, which put the 2 ½ inch piece of the non-weigh bearing bone back into place, is now stabilized with a stainless steel plate and screws.  Surgery lasted approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and according to his surgeon, Dr. Philip Stahel, Chief of Orthopedics at Denver Health Medical Center, was “hugely successful”.  Dr. Stahel’s prescription for recovery is outlined with 2 weeks of total rest to “prevent any complications” and then David will be released to begin the road back to the pitchers’ mound.  According to Dr. Stahel, Mr. Peterson will be able to resume normal levels of activity “dependent upon his pain threshold” after 5 or 6 weeks post-surgery.  Mr. Peterson is scheduled to be released to attend the NHSI in Cary, North Carolina contingent on release to travel by Dr.  in his post-surgical checkup on March 24th and is hopeful to return to play as Regis Jesuit attempts to repeat their 2011 Colorado State 5A Championship.  In initial consultations, it was thought that Peterson would not return to the baseball field until mid-Summer.  Mr. Peterson is “relieved to have the surgery behind (him) and looking forward to both a successful recovery and to supporting the team during the season”.
