SHRM India is committed to share the best and progressive HR practices of organizations and promote learning amongst HR professionals. Towards these efforts, SHRM India developed these case studies on the best practices of four winners, six runners' up and one merit-holder at the SHRM India HR Annual Awards 2013. These Awards from SHRM India were judged by an independent jury panel and process managed by KPMG.
Commenting on the release of the case studies Ms. Achal Khanna, CEO, SHRM India said "We are very pleased with the active support and participation of organizations in case studies. We will also continue to highlight these achievements through these studies".
CapGemini won the Runner's up award for "Excellence in diversity and Inclusion", on which SHRM concluded that organizations today are still struggling with cultural and functional issues associated with diversity and inclusion, Capgemini has taken definitive steps toward promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace through training sessions, workshops, team-building dynamics and linking diversity and inclusion initiatives to the company's performance. What is unique about the company's diversity and inclusion strategy is that it is co-owned by the line organization, and not only by the human resource function.
Along with this Capgemini also received a Special recognition award on the topic "Social Media People Campaign". SHRM's concluded that strategic and result-oriented use of social media for talent acquisition and promoting a strong employer brand is what differentiates Capgemini from other organizations in the IT and ITeS industry. The social media assets of company gave a strong boost to the talent acquisition strategy, reducing time-to-hire and agency spends while imparting success in closing senior-level critical openings.
· Cognizant and Mahindra Finance won awards in the category “Excellence in community impact", and provided case studies on the topic "Taking Corporate Community Service to the Next Level - Achieving Excellence in Community Impact @ Cognizant" and "The Business Drivers for CSR" respectively. SHRM concluded that while most organizations have a lot of CSR activities and councils, the impact analysis is something that is rarely focused upon. The Outreach Impact Index designed by Cognizant, spirit of volunteerism, unique impact analysis model and the endorsement of the senior management are the key takeaways of this case study. On Mahindra Finance's case study SHRM concluded that the company has successfully created a CSR strategy which links up to their overall business strategy and also leverages the strengths from their operating model. In doing so, they have developed a role model for other organizations in a manner that the community development can be achieved while simultaneously creating an employable and sustainable talent pool for the future.
· PepsiCo India won award in the category of "Developing Leaders of Tomorrow" and presented their case study on the topic "Building the Leadership Pipeline". SHRM concluded that while most of today's organizations focus on grooming the senior and middle management into succession roles, PepsiCo as a company promises its employees that they will invest in them to help them succeed, and work continually to develop and retain exceptional people and create employment opportunities in the communities that they serve. They have achieved this by grooming employees at all levels and creating a culture of transparency and integrity. The robust mechanism, processes, frameworks and measuring tools indicate the seriousness with which PepsiCo takes its vision of leadership across levels.
Other case study topics included "Smart working" – Arbitron Technology, "Accelerating Happiness" – CA Technologies, "Developing Leaders of Tomorrow" – Genpact, "Soaring High with Employee Wellness at SAP" – SAP Labs, "Employee Health - Expenditure or Investment?" – Reliance Industries, "Employee Health - Expenditure or Investment?" – School of Inspired Leadership.
