HOUSTON - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Houston Grand Opera’s annual Opera Ball invitations will be making an appearance at invitees’ homes this week, and the invitations are nothing short of incredible for this grand, white tie event.

The invitations were designed by Houston’s own premier specialty printer and design studio, Lavandula Design, under the creative direction of Lora Poe. Lavandula Design has worked with the Houston Grand Opera special event department since 2006. Each year, Lavandula Design works closely with Houston Grand Opera’s Director of Special Events Scott Ipsen and the rest of the special event team to create custom invitations that tie in with the Opera Ball’s theme.

”Lora has a proven track record of delivering specialty design and printing services that we use to brand and create acomprehensive visual identity for our events,” said Ipsen.“In a world where we are constantly bombarded by messages from all angles, she and her team of artisans create one-of-a-kind printed pieces that set the stage for our events and break through the clutter to reach the intended recipient.”

In addition to the invitations, Lavandula Design breathes life into each spectacular event with colorful event logos and day-of details that include specialty printing, hand-painted illustrations and fine finishing touches completed by hand in the Lavandula studio.

This year, the Opera Ball’s theme will be “Fleurs de l’Opéra,” inspired by the language of flowers. Lavandula Design worked directly with Mrs. Margaret Alkek Williams to create an elegant paper garden for the 2014 Opera Ball invitations.

The invitations feature layered floral illustrations representing the symbolic use of flowers in several popular operas.  A single swarovski crystal and a pink satin ribbon complete the garden of exquisite sculptural die-cut flowers, to form a multi-dimensional work of art. The invitations will arrive at their destinations in beautiful, custom flower-shaped envelopes.

“Our goal at Lavandula Design is to create beautiful work that stands out in the mail, and gives the guest a glimpse at the splendor of the event to come,” said Poe. “We look forward to working with Houston Grand Opera each year, and are excited to debut these elegant, unique pieces.”

Each year, the Opera Ball raises well over $1 million for the Houston Grand Opera. Guests sparkle in designer couture gowns and heirloom jewels, escorted by partners in fine tuxedos and tails.
