LOS ANGELES - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- ABC’s “Scandal” star Columbus Short has returned to the screens not only as ‘Harrison Wright,’ but also as himself, a working dad, kicking off the first episode (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB9l8M0oZI8) of the new web series “My Life As A Dad (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB9l8M0oZI8).” Taking on his real-life role of ‘Dad,’ Columbus Short offers an insightful, light-hearted interview in the first show of its kind to delve into all aspects of fatherhood. “My Life As A Dad” was devised for dads at all stages – expectant, new, active and experienced – and features illuminating interviews with the most admired celebrity and professional athlete dads.

“My Life As A Dad” is produced and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tommy Reid, best known for his work on the independent hit film “Kill the Irishman” and the 2014 Annie-Award-winning documentary “I Know That Voice.” The show aims to reach the projected 70 million-plus dads in the U.S., with nearly two million of these dads being single.

Robert “Daddy” Nickell, deemed the “Daddy Expert,” is the host and executive producer. The father of seven is the author of hundreds of syndicated articles distributed across the U.S. and Canada and is also the founder of Daddy & Company, the hub for gift ideas for dads and home of his renowned ‘Daddy Scrubs.’

According to Nickell, “My Life As A Dad” was created to fill the void in support and guidance material for dads. “There are countless resources for moms at their disposal – from books and blogs to podcasts and shows, but dads are lacking the same resources geared toward their fathering needs,” Nickell said. “We wanted to create a lighthearted, man-to-man show where dads and parents can tune in and see how celebrities and professional athletes whom they look up to handle the trials, tribulations and thrills of fatherhood at every stage.”

Its first episode on YouTube places “Scandal” celeb Columbus Short in the hot seat of the Parent Family Network Studio, raising common questions for busy dads and finding what inspires him as a father. The show uncovers its guests’ parenting philosophies, revealing how they balance demanding professional careers with the responsibilities of being a dad as well as activities that strengthen the bond with their children.

Celebrity guests include Tom Arnold of “True Lies,” Eric Christian Olson of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” AJ Calloway, “Extra” correspondent, Kevin Frazier, co-host of “The Insider,” Chris Paul of the LA Clippers and USA Olympic basketball team and the “90210” and “Sharknado” star and 2013 Daddy & Company “Daddy of the Year,” Ian Ziering, all of whom have shared everything from their own parenting advice to their first reflections following their child’s birth.

“We’re excited to become the support system for dads,” producer/director Tommy Reid said. “Our show is a refuge for fathers who can kick back, relax and tune in each week to hear from real dads who have advice to help guide them on their journey through fatherhood.”

February and March’s guests include NFL player Delanie Walker, NFL Pro Bowl tight end Marcedes Lewis of the Jacksonville Jaguars, actors Shadoe Stevens and Brian White, recording artist from American Idol James Durbin, and AVP stars/Olympians Casey Patterson and Jake Gibb.  “I think a lot of dads will particularly enjoy finding out how their favorite pro athletes and celebrities feel about parenthood,” Reid concludes.
