Youth Explore the Inner World in KidSpirit’s Spring Issue on The Psyche

NEW YORK - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- KidSpirit Magazine has long been a forum for teens around the world to explore questions of meaning, often related to inner growth and development, and this spring they tackle these psychological issues head on in the newest issue The Psyche.

The Psyche launches with a rich array of essays exploring the mind by teens hailing from around the country. In a feature article, a contributor in California reflects on our shifting identities in high school and how our personalities are influenced by our environment. In the Big Question, a Maryland teen responds to KidSpirit’s Editorial Board's query, "Can we know and control our psyches?" An Awesome Moment essay by a teen in Maine describes a transformative, month-long backpacking trip in Wyoming. And in Interfaith Connections, a New Yorker contemplates her inner growth during the time of her confirmation. Future pieces to be rolled out later this season include moving essays on loss, conflict resolution, decision making, and the interpretation of dreams.

In April, KidSpirit will feature an exclusive piece written by Dr. Dan J. Siegel. Dr. Siegel's new book, Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain, has received wide acclaim and is a New York Times bestseller. He is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center, and Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute.

KidSpirit’s original art and writing and its network of youth-led editorial boards around the globe make it a unique forum for young people to sharpen their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. As this issue on the psyche attests, it is also an invaluable resource for youth examining their inner development. KidSpirit’s high quality has garnered it many awards.
