PRLog - Mar. 3, 2014 - DALLAS -- Bulldog Mobile Billboards President Rod Collins is working with the National Education Association for the fourth time this quarter, with its third version of the Dr. Seuss Enterprises sponsored Cat-a-Van Reading Tour.  Featuring two vinyl wrapped SUV’s and a glass walled display truck, Collins’ team is assisting the tour by providing the Cat-in-the-Hat themed advertising vehicle and transporting NEA staff throughout the three week, 4,000-plus mile trek to elementary schools throughout eight states.

Originally created as a one-day event to celebrate the joy of reading, NEA’s Read Across America was founded 17 years ago by the National Education Association and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. NEA’s Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes reading every day. With Dr. Seuss’s March 2nd birthday falling on Sunday this year, the official Read Across America Day will be celebrated Monday, March 3rd, enabling schools nationwide to participate in the reading fun.

This year’s Read Across America events and activities are sponsored by the National Education Association and Renaissance Dental. The partnership will enable the route to include 20 cities in eight states including Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi.

More than 30,000 special stovepipe “reading” hats, books, toothbrushes plus other goodies like tooth timers will be distributed to students to keep them reading and brushing at home.  Renaissance Dental also will provide more than $15,000 in grants to the libraries and media centers of the public schools visited by the Cat-a-Van Reading Tour to help keep their libraries stocked with books and other reading inspiration.  A total of 19 grants to 18 NEA state affiliates in varying grant amounts ranging from $800 to $10,000 were distributed as a part of the program by NEA and Renaissance Dental.
