Green light for Leisureplex and Blackpool Illuminations!

CHORLEY, U.K. - March 3, 2014 - PRLog -- 2014 will see the Illuminations lighting up our lives for longer, as they are set to run again for 73 nights from Friday 29th August until Sunday 9th November.

Blackpool just wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the world-famous northern lights – the Blackpool Illuminations. The Illuminations retain the magic and excitement which every visitor experiences on their first trip through the ‘Lights’ as a child. More than three million visitors a year can’t be wrong!

Once described as ‘Artificial Sunshine’, the Illuminations have been a major part of Blackpool’s attraction since 1879 and have been a guiding light for visitors to the resort ever since. The styles and technology, however are constantly adapting to address the green issues of conservation and energy efficiency and with only green electricity from renewable resources. The procurement of green electricity has reduced the annual Illuminations carbon dioxide emissions to zero, a saving of 420 tonnes per year in the atmosphere.

The Blackpool Illuminations offer you a host of different experiences and ways to view Blackpool's glittering spectacle and take in the multi-million pound face-lift that Blackpool has recently had.. Whilst most visitors drive through the lights either by car, coach or bus, there are some more exciting and rewarding ways of viewing the dazzling displays. Hop aboard an open top tram for the clearest view of the lights, or perhaps a ride in a horse drawn carriage could be a special romantic treat. You can of course walk through the Illuminations, with a warm coat and a bag of chips: the best way to get involved with the interactive elements of this uniquely Blackpool attraction.
